The Mario Kart series is one of Nintendo's most popular IPs pretty much since the series' inception when
Super Mario Kart was released for the Super Nintendo back in 1992.
The series has come a long way since it first released, seeing different iterations being released on each Nintendo console since(except on the Virtual Boy but, can you blame them?), and is currently on its 9th entry, considering
Mario Kart 8 and
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as two different titles, of course.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc, is no stranger to the
Mario Kart series either, as a new tweet suggests that the company has actually tried to get
Mario Kart running as an in-car game in one of their newest models.
The news actually comes from Elon Musk's own Twitter account, in which he was asked if there was a chance to have
Mario Kart running in one of their cars, to what Musk actually replied that the company actually tried reaching out to Nintendo in order to get the rights to have it running in a Tesla car, but Nintendo just wouldn't license the rights to them.
The chances of Nintendo having their games running on other devices other than their own is quite the long shot, but it is interesting to see that even Tesla's Elon Musk knows the value of
Mario Kart as a franchise to the point of actually wanting to have an in-car version of it running in their cars. In the meantime, players can easily enjoy
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in their cars, just don't play when you're driving and everything should be fine.
Hit the road with the definitive version of Mario Kart 8 and play anytime, anywhere! Race your friends or battle them in a revised battle mode on new and returning battle courses.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
