This week, in the world of PC game releases go, will bring a few big titles to the platform. The highlight for this week will certainly be the return of a popular sports franchise, which hasn't seen the light of day on the Windows platform since 2007, and coming in close at second will probably be the RPG that has garnered great reviews since its release to consoles (Xbox One and Playstation 4) back in January this year. So lets dive in:
August 7th Releases:
Overcooked 2, Ghost Town Games Ltd., price: $24.99 USD
The sequel to the hit cooperative multi-player game is back! As a mix between fun cooking simulation games and
Mario Party, players can either work with, or against, other players to help save the world from hunger.
Hearthstone: The Boomsday Project (Expansion),
Blizzard Entertainment, price: $49.99 USD ('Mega Bundle' - $79.99)
The Boomsday Project is the ninth expansion for Blizzard Entertainment's hit card battling game,
Hearthstone. This expansion will feature 135 new cards, a new 'Warlock' class alternate hero (Mecha-Jaraxxus), and the story content from 'the Puzzle Lab.' You can find all the new cards and rest of the features
here (HearthstoneWiki).
Flipping Death, Zoink Games, price: $29.99 USD
Josh wrote a feature about it
here. Here's the trailer again though:
Slam Land, Bread Machine, price: $7.99 USD
This fun local multi-player competitive fighting game is certainly inspired by the
Super Smash Bros series, but with a bigger emphasis of throwing, or in this case, slamming opponents off the screen. The art style is very much its own, and some of the character designs are wonderfully twisted, this game has a chance to really be a solid indie hit.
August 9th Releases:
Monster Hunter: World, Capcom, price: $59.99 USD
(Highlight of the Week)
The RPG that has claimed a hefty rating of 90 on
Metacritic (for the PS4), as well as countless other rave game reviewers,
Monster Hunter: World finally makes its PC release just over half a year after its Xbox One and Playstation 4 release date back in late January. The fifth installment for the series really hit a homerun with this one, selling over 8 million copies worldwide already, and we shouldn't expect anything less as it makes its transition over to the Windows platform.
City of the Shroud, Abyssal Arts, price: NA
This player driven tactical turn-based RPG looks to blend its beautiful art design, music, and stylistic character designs to really liven up an ever growing genre. Following in the footsteps of
Fire Emblem and the
Banner Saga series', Abyssal Arts looks to have really stepped up to the plate and really give fans of this genre another amazing game to play.
Madden NFL 19, EA Sports, price: $59.99 (Released Aug. 7th for pre-purchase)
(Highlight of the Week)
Finally after over a decade of its absence for the Windows platform, the
Madden series makes it return to PC this year with their
Madden NFL 19 title. The
Hall of Fame edition for the game features Terrell Owens as the cover athlete, just recently inducted in the Hall of Fame this year, and the standard edition features star wideout for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Antonio Brown.
The game has a new feature, "real player motions," which really helps to customize the way players run, tackle and block which really helps add another dimension to the gameplay. There is no word on whether the game will be cross-platform, but the signs point this being an unlikely feature.
August 10th Releases:
We Happy Few, Compulsion Games, price: $59.99 USD
This is a single player first-person action/adventure game set in a sort of 'future past' 1960s England. Players will bounce between three different characters' storylines, learning about how their stories intertwine, as well as learn about the cities past.
