Late last month, for the first time ever, Naughty Dog brought The Last of Us onto PC as part of PlayStation's ongoing effort to make their games more accessible. While the game itself is the same and highly praised, The Last of Us Part 1 was certainly not ready to release and could have benefited from a few more months in the oven.
Naughty Dog isn't quiet about this issue, either, and has addressed the fumbled launch, assuring players that fixing this botched launch is their highest priority. This priority comes at the detriment of Steam Deck users, who are met with the official status of unsupported.
Technically speaking, you can play the game on the platform, but you'll have to endure bad graphics, turn on FSR, and do some other tricks to make sure the game is at least playable. It didn't have to be like this, after all, Sony has done so well with ports in the past.
Digging deeper, some may notice Iron Galaxy's logo, which does indicate a lot as they were the developers behind notorious ports like Batman Arkham Knight. It's hard to say why they would end up contracting a third-party port developer when Sony also owns Nixxes, which was purchased in order to port games to PC. You'd think you'd want your best foot forward when porting The Last of Us Part 1, but we guess Sony is just fine with making it work after the fact.
