There's a chance you've already heard about
New World, Amazon Game Studios' first major project. Yes, one of the biggest online shopping companies on Earth has decided to jump on the undying MMO bandwagon, and while other
World of Warcraft clones, like
Wildstar or
Paragon, are being shut down, Amazon will try to launch a title that will have a chance to compete, or even dethrone, Blizzard’s hit.
The game is set in, well, the titular New World, a fictional land between Europe and America inhabited by some pretty nasty magic creatures. While Amazon is producing and will publish the game down the line,
New World is technically being developed at Orange County, the studio that was formerly known as Double Helix, the creators of the recent
Killer Instinct remake and 2008's
Silent Hill: Homecoming.
According to Amazon,
New World will fully support Twitch, allowing you to share your best moments from the game. Thankfully, you don't have to be a Twitch member to take a closer look at the new game's core gameplay mechanics right now, as PC Gamer has shared over 10 minutes of pure
New World gameplay footage, featuring collecting resources, sieging fortresses, and battling other players.
Take a look:
Enter a lost chapter in history, in a sandbox MMO that begins with the discovery of a new world. Carve your destiny alongside hundreds of other players in a savage and arcane 17th century world. Survive murderous player bandits, band together to build fortified strongholds, or strike out to claim a piece of the haunted frontier.
New World is coming to PC and doesn't have an official release date yet.
