In June, Sega announced the delay of the next big installment in the Total War series, Three Kingdoms. The game that was supposed to hit the stores this fall will now launch on macOS, Linux and Windows on March 7th, 2019. The upcoming title is an indirect adaptation of Luo Guanzhong’s 14th century epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms that will let you control the central figures of that historic period.
Creative Assembly has created two separated modes for the solo campaign, the classic one that embraces the more traditional gameplay in-line with the previous titles, and a Romance mode that takes the embellishment from the novel and applies it to the games generals and narrative, giving characters supernatural abilities and otherworldly skills to conquer the battlefields and win the war.
The Three Kingdoms period was the tripartite division and battle for supremacy in China between the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu, represented by generals Cao Cao, Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu. You can order Three Kingdoms right now and get a Total War: Three Kingdoms Early Adopter bonus that gives you access to bonus DLC, the Yellow Turban Rebellion, which includes a new unit roster and more.
The year is 190CE. China is in turmoil. The Han Dynasty crumbles before the child-emperor. He is but a figurehead, a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo. It is a brutal and oppressive regime, and as Dong Zhuo’s power grows, the empire slips further into the cauldron of anarchy.
