It’s been more than five years since
Total War: Rome 2, the last mainline game in the franchise, and now Creative Assembly is trying something new with
Total War: Three Kingdoms. Creative Assembly has decided to set the next
Total War to China, as the new strategy will give you a chance to fight for the supremacy in the Middle Kingdom and meet famous historical figures like Cao Cao and Lü Bu.
Sadly,
Three Kingdoms won't match its pivotal release date, as Sega and Creative Assembly have decided to delay their latest installment in the
Total War series. The upcoming game is strongly Influenced by Luo Guanzhong’s 14th century historical epic
Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The studio has created two modes for the solo campaign, Classic that embraces the more traditional gameplay and a Romance mode that takes the embellishment from the novel and applies that to the games generals and narrative, giving characters supernatural abilities on the battlefield.
GameSpot and IGN had a chance to check out the game's early build at E3 and you can check out their impressions down below. The gameplay footage focus on the epic clash between the forces of Chinese warlords and Cao Cao, one of the central figures of the
Three Kingdoms period (the tripartite division and battle for supremacy in China between the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu). Take a look:
The year is 190CE. China is in turmoil. The Han Dynasty crumbles before the child-emperor. He is but a figurehead, a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo. It is a brutal and oppressive regime, and as Dong Zhuo’s power grows, the empire slips further into the cauldron of anarchy.
Total War: Three Kingdoms is scheduled to release next spring exclusively on PC.
