It seems like there's a petition for everything these days, but one on Change.org asking Disney and Lucasfil to develop a Netflix series based on the popular Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game is one it's easy to get behind. The chances of them listening are of course somewhere between slim and none, but they may want to take note of the fact that 57,000 people have signed it so far.
"The Knights of the Republic series of games as well as the MMORPG ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ serve as the main vehicles to tell stories of characters such as Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Bastila Shan, Darth Traya, Meetra Surik, Darth Malgus, Satele Shan, and the list goes on," the petition states. "The popularity of this era in ‘Star Wars’ history is felt throughout the fanbase, and I feel it would do a massive disservice to us if these stories weren’t told." That's fair, but there's one big issue here.
As the petition points out, Netflix would be an ideal home for a show like this, but everything in the Expanded Universe was wiped out when Disney purchased Lucasfilm and The Force Awakens was released. As a result, the slate has been wiped clean, so the studio turning to KOTOR for inspiration seems unlikely seeing as they're now telling a whole new wave of stories withd different characters.
This is still interesting, and if nothing else, maybe it will help make a video game sequel happen!
