Over the past few years, the League of Legends Champions team at Riot Games has been focused largely on bringing the current pool of characters up-to-date, both in terms of graphics and ability kits. Full-scale reworks of older champions meant less newer champions were introduced into the game.

That's going to change in 2019. Mordekaiser marks the last major character rework, and while the team will still address Pantheon, the focus for the remainder of 2019 will be new champions.

In the latest roadmap, Riot Games confirmed that the next League of Legends champion will be a new solo lane AD assassin. What's more, the new champion will introduce a brand new faction that lies within the deep jungles of Runeterra, "hidden from the rest of the world."

Riot didn't get into specifics, but did hint that this assassin "has powers which give them all the elements they need to use their surroundings in clever and innovative ways." Concept art for the new champion's faction was teased, which you can see above.

"Trespassers beware and stay away from the walls, for nowhere is safe when you enter deep into these jungles," Riot teased.
