Teamfight Tactics Fates: Festival of Beasts, the mid-set update for Riot's autochess, is set to arrive on January 20. The update will continue with the Fates theme, but introduce new traits and champions, while also removing ones currently in the game.
Six traits and 19 champions in total are being removed from the set:
- Moonlight: Lissandra, Sylas, Aphelios
- Dusk: Vayne, Thresh, Riven, Cassiopeia, Lillia
- Hunter: Aphelios, Warwick, Ashe
- Dazzler: Lissandra, Lux, Ezreal
- Shade: Evelynn Kayne
- Other champions: Nami, Hecarim, Jinx, Xin Zhao, Jhin, Ahri
Taking their place are seven new traits: Slayer, Fabled, Dragonsoul, Executioner, Syphoner, Slayer, Blacksmith, Daredevil. These traits are comprised some new champions (Samira and Tryndamere), some champions returning from previous sets, and some champions from Set 4 who have been reworked.
Additionally, there's a brand new mechanic being introduced to the game: Lucky Lantern. This item has the chance to appear at random in games and provide players with a special item. The contents of the Lucky Lantern are the same for everyone and can consist of things like gold, item components, Neeko's Help, Force of Nature, or Consumables.
Consumables are a new type of item in Teamfight Tactics, providing special gameplay options for players. Shop reroller, for example, can be used on a champion and will reroll the shop but only show champions of the same traits. The Item Remover takes all of the items from a champion and places them on to your bench, giving you more flexibility late game. There's also an Item Reroller, which randomly swaps the items on a champion to new ones, and a Training Dummy, which acts as a distraction on the battlefield.
With the new set also comes a new Battle Pass filled with cosmetics that can be earned by playing the game and completing missions. There's the free Festivals of Beasts Pass as well as the paid-for Festival of the Beasts Pass+, which offers more progression-based cosmetics. And, of course, we're getting a new line of revel-theme Little Legends avatars, Festive Booms, and thematic interactive arenas.
TFT Fates: Festival of Beasts will go live on January 20. However, those with access to the PBE can login and check out all the new champions and traits.
