Rare's open-world pirate adventure Sea of Thieves leaves port in a little over a month, but before we take to the high waters, the developer has detailed what it'll take to run the game on PC. While we're used to PC pushing games to their limit, Rare's rendering team set out with the goal of "how low can we go." Essentially, the developer wanted to deliver a "great version of the game even for those with computers below our official minimum spec."

"The game is perfectly playable at 540p, and one of the advantages of Xbox Play Anywhere is that if you own an Xbox One AND a low-spec laptop you can still take full advantage of it, and we absolutely encourage it!" said Rare PC Design Lead Ted Timmins. "Of course if you have a beast of a rig running at 4k/60, we’ve got you covered with the best looking #GreatWater, and everything in between!"

The good news is that nine months in a Technical Alpha programme has allowed Rare to fine-tune the auto-detect experience for the game. And with more than a year of working with AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA, we have not just the traditional "minimum", "recommended," and "ultra" specs, but a one-sheet that details "the expected experience each spec will offer."

Check out the specs for Sea of Thieves with all the different Windows 10 PC settings below.

Sea of Thieves launches for Windows 10 PC and Xbox One on March 20.
