To put matters succinctly, the version o
f Chrono Trigger just released on Steam is not the 2008 Nintendo 3DS port or even the original 1995 NES version. It's the simplified, 2011 mobile version which removed all the nuance from the beloved Nintendo classic.

As one fan puts it, "What's sad is that when nobody buys the crappy Steam mobile port of Chrono Trigger, Square Enix will think there isn't any interest in Chrono Trigger. There is great interest in Chrono Trigger, just not a half-assed mobile port of it."
