Though Sony themselves have cautioned us not to get our hopes up for news about the PlayStation 5 during their upcoming State of Play presentation, a Japanese journalist by the name of
Zenji Nishikawa has got us covered.
According to a new report by Nishikawa, Sony is currently working on two different versions of the PlayStation 5 console. It's said that the PlayStation 5 will release at the same time as a more powerful version of itself — the PlayStation 5 Pro. The difference will presumably be that the standard PlayStation 5 will be more affordable but less technically impressive than the Pro version.
Nishikawa has proven himself to be a reliable source in the past — what with having revealed the Nintendo Switch Lite before Nintendo themselves did. The only questionable aspect of this scoop is that you'd think Sony would want players to buy the standard version and then be coaxed into buying the PlayStation 5 Pro in the midst of the generation — as was the case with the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
As for when the PlayStation 5 will be releasing, our best guess is still Holiday 2020 — as that's when Xbox's Project Scarlett will be making its debut.
