This year marks the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, one of the most iconic brands in all of video games. Sony has been finding all sorts of fun ways to celebrate the huge milestone with the latest being a massive sale on the PlayStation Store.

From today, December 2nd, through December 20th you can save on hundreds of PlayStation games that span three decades. Some of Sony's biggest first-party titles are on sale right now, including The Last of Us, God of WarMarvel's Spider-ManBloodborne: Game of the Year EditionGran Turismo 7Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trillogy, and more. Numerous third-party titles are also included such as BioShock RemasteredBorderlands: The Handsome CollectionBattlefield 4, and many more. All in all, there are over 3,834 deals up part of the sale, which you can see here. The savings are pretty good too, with some discounts as high as 75%.

In addition to games, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary promotion also extends to hardware and peripherals discounts direct from PlayStation.

Also shared today was a heartwarming 30th-anniversary video thanking all of the gamers who have joined the PlayStation family over the past 30 years.

"For the past three decades, we've shared an incredible journey, building stories and shaping experiences together," Sony said. "Along the way, we've found adventure, laughter, and lasting memories that go far beyond any one moment. We've forged new friendships and redefined what gaming is all about. Thank you for being part of this journey — we couldn't have done it without you."

It's also been discovered that a new PS5 update released today has brought back the original PS1 boot-up screen and sounds. For those around back in the original PlayStation gaming days, it's a familiar and welcomed sound. For those who are somewhat new to PlayStation, this was the sound that started it all — and it's magnificent.

PS5 owners can also customize their home screen with sounds and designs from other PlayStation console generations: PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4.

The current PlayStation Store sale and PS5 update are only part of Sony's PlayStation celebrations. Earlier this year, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, limited edition designs for the PlayStation 5 that pay homage to 30 years of gaming on PlayStation. The special design is inspired by the original PlayStation color and integrates it into PS5 hardware products.

That video is nice, although it's to be expected with Playstation imo. They often give me a sense of awe and joy, and remind it's good to be a gamer.

The classic themes are pretty cool too. Kinda wish they kept it in as a permanent feature. Especially the PS2 sound effects (and towers when booting) are very nostalgic to me.
