Ever since Death Stranding was first announced in 2016, fans have been anxious to learn more about the latest game from the fan-favorite game designer and director, Hideo Kojima. And while we've been treated to several exciting trailers and casting announcement, no release date has been set for the game.

However, over the past few months we've seen listings from sites like Walmart Canada and comments from star Norman Reedus that strongly suggest the game will be dropping sometime in 2019.

Now, to further support this idea, Kojima himself has written a New Year message for the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, which seemingly indicates that the game will indeed be available next year.

"Is 2019 the year of the whale?" Kojima's message reads. "Please look forward to Death Stranding."

Of course, this isn't an outright confirmation that players will soon be able get their hands on Death Stranding, but this brief message doesn't exactly leave room for interpretation.

Regardless, be sure to check beck here for further updates on Death Stranding, including the exact date of its release.
