As of today, 7th of October, Facebook integration is no longer supported on the PlayStation 4, has announced Sony via the official
PlayStation Support website while also apologising for any inconveniences this may cause to some users.
According to information shared on Sony's website, PlayStation 4 users will no longer be able to link their Facebook account to their PlayStation Network account; meaning that adding friends from Facebook is not going to be possible any more.
Facebook integration also allowed players to import their profile pictures and use them as their PlayStation Network avatar, as well as sharing their trophy activity, posting videos of their gameplay or sharing links to their broadcasts; all of which being completely removed today.
Sony did not disclose the reason behind cutting all ties with Facebook, although it is very likely that it is in order to keep the privacy of their users, well, private; considering Facebook's constant history of violation of privacy, this is a great move on Sony's part.
