As we prepare to turn the calendar page, Sony has announced May's free PlayStation Plus offerings. Coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 are three games, each offering a distinct game experience. Whether you're interested in survival, poker, or straight up action, there should be something for everyone with May's PS Plus lineup.

Up first we've got Ark: Survival Ascended, a comprehensive remaster of the original 2015 game, ARK: Survival Evolvedreimagined with Unreal Engine 5. Improved graphics features, advanced physics systems, and quality of life revamps await in this action adventure survival sim.

Are you ready to form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of species of dinosaurs and other primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food-chain?  The game supports public online multiplayer for up to 70 players, private-session multiplayer for up to 8 players, and local split-screen for 2 players.

Ark: Survival Ascended includes access to remastered versions of all original DLCs, including Scored Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Part 1 & 2, as well as the final map, Fjordur, which is expected to arrive this October. There are also new creatures such as the Gigantoraptor and Fasolasuchus, an overhauled character creation system. Additional modes include a remastered Survival of the Fittest battle royale and Club ARK.

Ark: Survival Ascended will be available for PlayStation 5.

Also coming in May will be Balatro, the critically acclaimed poker-inspired roguelike deck builder. Despite its indie roots, Balatro was a smash hit when it released last year, receiving widespread praise for its addictive gameplay loop and innovative design.

Play illegal poker hands, discover game-changing jokers and trigger outrageous combos in this roguelike strategy experience. Combine valid poker hands with unique joker cards in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat devious blinds, all while uncovering hidden bonus hands and decks as you progress. You’re going to need every edge you can get in order to reach the boss blind, beat the final ante and secure victory.

Balatro will be free on PS5 and PS4.

The third and final free game for PS Plus in May 2025 is Warhammer 40:000: Boltgun. Blending classic Warhammer 40,000 FPS gameplay with 90's retro shooter visuals, Warhammer: 40,000: Boltgun puts you in the boots of a battle-hardened Space Marine on a perilous mission across the galaxy.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will be available on PS5 and PS4.

All three of these games will drop on PS Plus beginning May 6th. They will be free to claim until June 2nd.

In the meantime, you have until May 5th to add April's PS Plus games to your library. This includes RoboCop: Rogue CityThe Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory.
