What an amazing run has Ghost of Tsushima had since its launch last month. The developers over at Sucker Punch have delivered a phenomenal game that is nothing short of a masterpiece, and fans have responded overwhelmingly positive to this top quality title.
A week after its release, in fact, Sony announced that Ghost of Tsushima had become the fastest-selling original PlayStation 4 intellectual property — which is no small feat considering that the game managed to beat out Bend Studio's Days Gone and Kojima Productions' critically acclaimed Death Stranding.
On top of this, Sucker Punch's critically acclaimed title has also been reported to be Japan's second best-selling first-party title to have released for the PlayStation 4, trailing behind Insomniac Games' also critically praised MARVEL's Spider-Man.
One of the main reasons the game has been performing as strongly as it has, is the realistic approach the developers at Sucker Punch took when working on Ghost of Tsushima, since this is not a game about a samurai fighting demons and dragons, but a story based on real historical events.
It also helps that Ghost of Tsushima was heavily inspired by legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's films, which also adds to the realism the developers were trying to insert into the game — which is a departure from the critically acclaimed InFamous series most players know them for.
In a recently released behind the scenes video for Ghost of Tsushima, Creative Director Nate Fox and Sony Interactive Entertainment's Shuhei Yoshida reveal even more interesting details about the game, and how it is based on the historical Mongol invasion; going over the game's historically accurate, and heart-pounding opening scene.
