Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for the PlayStation 4 seem to have been accidentally confirmed by the official ESRB
website—which will come as a very pleasant surprise for fans of the series.
The aforementioned
Castlevania titles will be part of a collection named
Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood, which will be coming out exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The information was accidentally posted on the official ESRB site, which featured a short descripton of what this Castlevania collection will be including.
The information posted on the ESRB site has since been deleted but it read as follows:
"This is collection of two action platformers in which players assume the role of a vampire hunter battling Dracula and other creatures. From a side-scrolling perspective, players traverse Dracula’s castle to kill fantastical enemies (e.g., zombies, demons, minotaurs). Characters use whips, swords, axes, and magic to defeat enemies. Pixelated blood is depicted when players’ character and creatures are killed; some attacks result in decapitation and dismemberment of creatures, including a boss character that loses its body parts and entrails. As players progress, they may encounter female creatures (e.g., harpies, medusa) that have exposed buttocks and are depicted topless, though there are no discernible details (i.e., no nipples)".
While the description doesn't really say much about the
Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood collection, the fact that it was quickly deleted seemingly confirms that this game is, in fact, coming to the PlayStation 4. Konami has not revealed any official information regarding this news but it is likely that they will be announcing the collection soon.
The Castlevania series has lately become more of a hack and slash kind of game, and Konami wanting to bring back
Symphony of rhe Night and
Rondo of Blood is definitely good news for the series. Hopefully
Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is the first step towards developing a new 2D Castlevania, so we will keep our fingers crossed for it to happen sooner than later.
