Aftrer all of the waiting that PlayStation fans have had to endure, Sony has finally revealed that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 will retail for $499.99 / €499.99 / £449.99 / ¥49.980, and will officially be releasing on the 12th of November or the 19th of November depending on your region.
This is where things get even more interesting, as the aforementioned price is the cost of the normal console that includes a disc reader. The PlayStation 5 Digital Edition actually costs $399.99 / €399.99 / £359.99 / ¥39.980, making it a far better deal for those players who don't care about physical media.
As revealed by Sony, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will launch on Thursday the 12th of November in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, while players from other regions will have to wait only one week for both versions of the console to launch on Thursday the 19th of November.
Sony is not playing around at all, as the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is $100 USD cheaper than Microsoft's base Xbox Series X, although the low-end Xbox Series S will launch with a $300 USD price tag. Then again, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is not a low-end version of the console, only a cheaper one that plays exactly the same games.
