A new month means a new batch of free games, and Sony is kicking off May with a solid lineup for PlayStation Plus members. Three games will be avaliable to claim next week across PS5 and PS4. Whether you're into soccer, punishing action RPGs, or indie gems, this month's spread has something for just about everyone
The headliner for May is EA Sports FC 26, and it's a pretty strong pull. Released on September 26, 2025, this year's entry made a genuine effort to address long-standing community complaints. The biggest addition is the split between two distinct gameplay styles, Competitive and Authentic, which let you decide whether you want a fast-paced, high-scoring experience or something that more closely mirrors real football. That shift alone borders on game-changing, and it's the kind of improvement that feels like it'll stick around for future entries in the series.
On the critical side, FC 26 earned generally favorable reviews, with 83% of critics on OpenCritic recommending it. The on-pitch gameplay was widely praised as the best the series has felt in years, though the usual complaints about aggressive monetization in Ultimate Team followed it out the door.
The character graphics are also a genuine leap forward, with players looking, moving, and feeling more realistic than ever. If you haven't touched the FC series in a while, or bounced off FC 25, which most people did, this is a solid time to jump back in without spending a cent.
As a bonus, PS Plus members also get an EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack as an exclusive add-on, a nice little extra for anyone who plans on diving into Football Ultimate Team.
Next up is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers for PS5. If you're a Soulslike fan, this one's for you. Developed by Leenzee Games and published by 505 Games, Wuchang launched on July 24, 2025, and quickly drew comparisons to the likes of Black Myth: Wukong and Lies of P.
You play as Wuchang, a female pirate warrior who wakes up during the crumbling final years of China's Ming Dynasty with no memory of who she is. The land around her is falling apart, and a horrific plague called Feathering is transforming people into monsters, one she's now infected with herself
The third and final free game for May is Nine Sols, a hand-drawn 2D action platformer that blends Sekiro-style parry combat with Metroidvania exploration. Developed by studio Red Candle Games, the team behind acclaimed psychological horror titles Detention and Devotion, Nine Sols was praised for its compelling sci-fi story, memorable boss fights, and masterful gameplay.
All three of these games will be available for PlayStation Plus members beginning Tuesday, May 5. As a reminder, you have until Monday, May 4 to download April's free games: Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream
