A couple of years ago, Sony Santa Monica was forced to lay off most of its staff after the cancellation of an unannounced sci-fi game. Since then, the studio gave us a critically acclaimed and beloved reinvention of the
God of War series that also used to be the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive (this title belongs now to Insomniac's take on
Spider-Man) and the development team in growing rapidly.
During the
God of War promotion tour, director and writer Cory Barlog confirmed that he has at least five different ideas for Kratos' future. Barlog also revealed that he understands that it took the development team five years to create this year's
God of War and reiterated the desire to make the process faster, so it's rather safe to say that Santa Monica is already developing a
God of War sequel.
The studio is looking for Senior Control Designer, Senior Technical Animator, and many more, as seen in the sheet below. What's even more interesting, Technical Director will realize "
a strategic, multi-phase, long term studio plan spanning two future projects." Cory Barlog has revealed that he would like to make a smaller project alongside
GOW2 and it looks like Sony has greenlighted both of them.
From Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog comes a new beginning for God of War. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.
God of War is available exclusively on PlayStation 4 NOW!
