Ever since
God of War was launched back in April, players have been wanting to find every single one of the game's secrets, and easter eggs—to the point some communities were created to help each other out find these secrets. As a friendly reminder: since the last secret is considered a huge SPOILER for the game, the rest of the article will contain spoilers—just so you know.
A few days ago we reported that some
players may have found the final secret in God of War, located in Kratos' cabin. The secret ws that there were some runes carved in very hidden places in the cabin, spelling the word
Loki—which was Atreus' intended name before he was born.
The Reddit community was left somewhat disappointed to find this out given that the word carved in the cabin is not really a secret sicne everyone will know that if they completed the game, but there was also the uncertainty if that was, indeed, the final secret in the game—especially since neither the game's director, Cory Barlog, or Santa Monica Studio had confirmed it.
Today, Santa Monica Studio has finally confirmed—via their verified Twitter account—that the word carved in Kratos' cabin was, in fact, the last secret in the game. The studio also praised the dedication of the players that joined forces to get every single secret and easter egg in the game.
In the same Twitter thread, Santa Monica Studio were asked if there's any news regarding
God of War's New Game Plus, to what they replied with a simple "Hang in there! Keep you posted", hinting that they may be getting close to finally revealing a date for its release.
With every secret already found, what better time to release the
God of War New Game Plus? It will give those avid players who found the secrets to give the game another go and keep enjoying the amazing experience that Santa Monica Studio gave us with
God of War. We'll now just have to wait for more details on this.
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
God of War is available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
