God of War is a game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Entertainment that is available exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Since the game was released on the 20th of April this year, players have noticed that there are a lot of secrets and easter eggs to be found.
At one point an
Avengers: Infinity War reference was also found in the form of the Shattered Gautlet of Ages, which made allusion to the Infinity Gauntlet that Thanos wears in the movie. Things like this have made players to keep searching for more secrets, references, and easter eggs in
God of War.
During this past Sand Diego Comic-Con, Senior Concept Artist for
God of War Joe Kennedy mentioned on Twitter that Cory Barlog—Creative Director of the game—gave one clue about the last easter egg—hinting at it being hidden where The Hunt chapter begins, which led players straight to that area and Kratos' house.
After the tweet, players went on
Reddit to join forces and begin looking for that last secret and they seem to have found it, except they are slightly disappointed by it since they don't consider it a secret, since it actually shows up at the end of the game.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
The last secret that Cory Barlog and Joe Kennedy may have been hinting at is, allegedly, found in Kratos' house, in which four runes can be found hidden. These four runes spell the word LOKI, which may have been carved by Kratos' wife Faye before Atreus was born. Atreus was named after a Spartan soldier—this is a fact that we learn during Kratos' best-told story in the game—which inspired Spartans to hope. Faye had a different name in mind and wanted their son to be named Loki, which is Atreus' real name that is revealed in the final scene of the game.
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
