The Last of Us live-action television series that's in the works for HBO and set to air in 2022 has been incredibly lenient when it comes to on-set secrecy. Set photos and videos have been popping up willy-nilly. Then again, it's not like everybody interested doesn't already know the series' story inside and out.
Neil Druckmann, writer of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, reprises his role as writer alongside Craig Mazin, best known for writing the acclaimed Chernobyl television series. Pedro Pascal will star as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, they're best known for featuring in The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones respectively.
It has been declared that the HBO series will be very faithful to the source material, after all, why make changes when it went down so well the first time? However, a set video from just the other day has revealed some significant changes — such as the dam section of the game instead taking place in a major The Last of Us Part II location.
This time, however, a set video has revealed a portion in which the game will remain faithful. In this new set video, we can see Pascal and Ramsey as Joel and Ellie saddle up to a university on horseback. This is a one-to-one recreation of the 'University' chapter in The Last of Us video game. Those familiar with the game will know that something particularly signficant happens there in regards to Joel's wellbeing.
Additionally, those familiar with the game will know that Joel and Ellie visit the University of Easten Colorado (a fictional university) searching for the fireflies who will hopefully be able to repilicate Ellie's immunity to the cordyceps virus. Therefore, this new video more or less confirms those plot points will remain intact. Unlike the game, though, and just like the other set video from the other day, it seems this segment will take place during winter instead of fall.
