Some amazing new screenshots from a The Last of Us cancelled animated movie have managed to make their way online, giving us a look at what could have been an animated film that would tie both The Last of Us and its sequel together.

These screenshots were first spotted by Nerd4Life, although the images have now been taken down. Thanks to a post in Imgur, they are now available for everyone to see, and the quality of the animation is simply superb.

According to sources, this animated movie would actually be episodic, and each episode would've seen both of the protagonists at a campfire reminiscing about the most important events in the first The Last of Us title.

From waht we can see in these images, each episode would've featured a very unique, and different art style — much like the short movies in The Animatrix — but sources claim that it was Sony that decided to pull the plug on this tie-in miniseries.
