Ever since the latest trailer dropped at Sony's State of Play conference, PlayStation and Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II has been receiving a lot of attention. And with interest in the game at an all-time high, the developers have revealed some intriguing new details on upcoming title.
For instance, while talking with the folks over at Gamespot, co-director Anthony Newman opened up on how their advanced AI added exciting new details to the various allies players will encounter throughout the game.
"What I'm really excited about is that with a lot of effort and some clever AI tricks, every time you see an ally shoot an enemy, their bullets do exactly as much damage as yours do, which is just another way that players are able to make predictions and think two or three steps ahead," Newman explained, making it clear that allies will no longer deal "fake damage" like their previous games.
However, it's not just the friendly AI that's been improved in The Last of Us Part II, as the director also revealed they've made what would normally be "just faceless goons" even more human by giving them all names that they can use "when they’re coordinating."
In all, along with making what will hopefully be improvements to the actual gameplay, it sounds as if Naughty Dog has added another layer of detail that may very well make the sequel even more realistic than games like Uncharted 4 and the original The Last of Us.
