GRAN TURISMO Championship Returns With Online Format For 2021

The FIA certified Gran Turismo Championships will return later this year. Here is more information on the new online format, developments and technologies of the racing game.

President of Polyphony Digital and creator of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamuchi, spoke with PlayStation about the ESports return for the franchise. Yamuchi confirmed that the championships will return later this year and will take an online format due to the effects of Covid-19.

Yamuchi promises this new championship will have a new format, developments in overall production, new technologies and of course, classic Gran Turismo action that fans love. All the competitions taking place this year will be part of an online only environment. The FIA Gran Turismo Championships will launch on April 21st.

Here is a Gran Turismo website where players can sign up in Sports Mode on GT Sport. The site includes all of the terms and conditions for players seeking to race. Gran-turismo.com will be updated with all the details on how to be one of the contestants and changes for the 2021 season. This year will hold the Nations Cup and Manufacturer Series.

The first online stage will run from April 21st to June 26. World Series 1 and 2 will take place on June 6 and July 11. The World Series Showdown is live on August 21st and August 22nd. The second online stage runs from July 7 to September 25th. World Series 3 and 4 take place on October 3rd and November 14th. Finally, the World Finals will run for 3 days. 3rd, 4th and 5th of December.
