Director Hideaki Itsuno Wanted To Make DEVIL MAY CRY V More Than DRAGON'S DOGMA 2

According to Director Hideaki Itsuno, Capcom was very close to green-lighting a sequel to Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen instead of the upcoming Devil May Cry V, but it sounds like DD2 is only a matter of time!

About two months ago, Director Hideaki Itsuno revealed that he already knows what he will do after finishing Devil May Cry V and promised that his next project will be announced as soon as possible.

Considering that we have no idea what Capcom is working on nowadays (besides DMCV), Itsuno's future game may be virtually anything, including a new entry in the Dead Rising and Mega Man series.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, it sounds like Itsuno has already picked his next big thing and there's a big chance it will be Dragon's Dogma 2! According to Itsuno himself, "when the discussion came up for Devil May Cry V, I went to Kenzo [Kenzo Tsujimoto, Capcom founder] and I said… look, I want to make either Devil May Cry V or Dragon’s Dogma 2 next,” Itsuno told VG247 during a Devil May Cry V media tour. “He said ‘okay, do whatever you want. Do whichever one you want."

As you’ve probably guessed, Itsuno decided to make DMCV, but with the works on the game slowly coming to an end (it releases March 8th), Dragon's Dogma 2 might very well be his next project. The fact that Itsuno has expressed interest in making a Dragon's Dogma sequel on numerous occasions and had a plan for its story back in 2013 may suggest that Capcom has even already greenlit the follow-up.

As a reminder, the original game's enhanced edition, titled Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, will be available for Nintendo Switch on April 23, 2019 with many technical improvements and new content.

Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich, living world with three AI companions, known as Pawns. These partners fight independently, demonstrating prowess and ability that they have developed based on traits learned from each player. PC users can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, coming to Nintendo Switch on April 23, 2019.
