Gamer Tag Radio recently spoke with Bobby Coddington, Sr. Animation Director & James Ham, Associate Animation Director of Insomniac Games and touched on a number of intriguing topics concerning the upcoming release of Spider-Man 2.

It seems that while players are exploring the open world as Peter Parker, you can randomly come across Miles Morales and vice versa.  What's more, the other Spider hero can join in on whatever activity you're doing or you can join them.

"There are times when you can be swinging throughout the city and you'll see the other Spider-Man actively doing something or stopping a crime. And sometimes you can hop in and they'll join you. It's a cool experience to be able to play with both Peter and Miles in this way," said Ham.

It was also confirmed that the opposite can happen, where you can be in the middle of an open world mission and have the AI controlled Spider-Man randomly join you for an assist.

The conversation starts at the 15:10 mark in the video below.

The highly anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an upcoming action-adventure game created by the award-winning video game studio Insomniac Games and distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

It is a direct sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man from 2018 and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales from 2020, and it will be released on October 20, 2023 for PlayStation 5.

The game will feature Peter Parker and Miles Morales as the two playable characters, who will team up to face a new threat: Venom. Other villains that have been confirmed to appear in the game include Kraven the Hunter, The Lizard, and Black Cat.

During Summer Game Fest earlier this year, it was confirmed that Eddie Brock will not be Venom's host once the symbiote leaves Peter Parker. Most comic book fans and gamers alike expect the space parasite to bond with Harry Osborn.

When it was released in 2018, the first Spider-Man game received positive reviews from critics as the gameplay, aesthetics, plot, and characterizations all received high marks. Based on 120 reviews, the game had an overall Metacritic score of 91%.

OFFICAL SYNOPSIS: The Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, enter new chapters in their lives as they balance their responsibilities as protectors of Marvel’s New York. As Harry Osborne, Peter’s best friend, returns into his life, and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school, the relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.

Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues the saga of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise.
