Marvel's Spider-Man first released way back in September 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and has since been remastered for the PlayStation 5 alongside a spinoff title, that being Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Given the overwhelming reception and sales of the first instalment, a proper sequel was inevitable.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was officially announced back in September of last year. This announcement trailer featured the return of both Peter Parker as the titular webslinger and also Miles Morales, as well as revealing that the sequel will feature the fan-favourite character of Venom as its antagonist.
That's all we've heard about Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and it's apparently all we will be hearing about it for quite some time. A reputable insider by the name of Tom Henderson recently purported that there likely won't be any new updates regarding the status of the sequel until the back half of this year, seeing as it and Insomniac Games' other upcoming title, Wolverine, is expected to release in around the "2023-2024" timeframe.
Henderson has proven himself a reliable source countless times in the past, most commonly reporting on the behind the scenes goings-on of EA and Activsion, as you can see here. Similarly, just last month Henderson declared when the next Call of Duty instalment is likely to be revealed and released.
However, don't take Henderson's word as a certainty nonetheless; basically just don't go into next month's apparent State of Play presentation expecting to see Marvel's Spider-Man 2 because you would likely end up disappointed.
