There are video games that are off everybody's radar, those that are moderately exciting, some highly anticipated ones, and then there's the remake of
Final Fantasy VII. Although the reimagination of the 1997 classic was announced a while ago (at E3 2015, to be exact), Square Enix hasn't revealed any new details on the project for quite some time - but it may change soon - maybe even as soon as tomorrow.
While tomorrow's State of Play livestream will be a relatively short one – running only for around 10 minutes – it may be an incredible important one. Considering that Brand Manager for the
Final Fantasy series Shinji Hashimoto recently quoted PlayStation’s tweet regarding their upcoming presentation with “
Oh. You’ve come,” it's rather safe to say that Square is ready to talk more about the new
FFVII.
Furthermore, Niko Partners Analyst Daniel Ahmad
has confirmed that a third-party video game that was announced some time ago will be showcased during the main show, giving us more evidence that the long-gone
Final Fantasy VII remake will return this Thursday, hopefully in all its former glory.
As a reminder, Sony will also share new information regarding the
MediEvil remake, and even reveal a never-before-seen video game, during tomorrow's State of Play – that is set to begin at 3:00pm PST.
In Midgar, a city controlled by the mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc., the No. 1 Mako Reactor has been blown up by a rebel group, AVALANCHE. AVALANCHE was secretly formed to wage a rebellion against Shinra Inc., an organisation which is absorbing Mako energy, destroying the natural resources of the planet. Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite combat force, SOLDIER, was involved with the bombing of the Mako Reactor. Can Cloud and AVALANCHE protect the planet from the huge, formidable enemy, Shinra Inc.?
Final Fantasy VII: Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4 as Square Enix hasn't announced anything officially regarding its release date yet.
