Square Enix's
Final Fantasy VII Remake finally has a release date. Opting not to wait until their E3 live stream, the publisher surprisingly announced the release date to a live audience during
Final Fantasy VII - A Symphonic Reunion, the first concert dedicated entirely to
Final Fantasy VII.
In any case, the game — or the first episode of the game, rather — will arrive on March 3, 2020. The announcement was accompanied by a brief trailer containing new footage that shows off the remade version of an early portion of the game, along with some new key art featuring the game's infamous villain Sephiroth, set against a burning Midgar skyline.
Rebuilding and expanding upon the legendary RPG for today, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet's very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.
Originally released in 1997,
Final Fantasy VII is widely regarded as one of the best RPGs of all-time and features some of the most iconic characters ever.
Further announcements regarding
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be shared during
Square Enix's E3 livestream on June 10th at 6:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm Eastern. The
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be release only on PlayStation 4.
