While a good portion of Square Enix's E3 conference was dedicated to showing off the
Final Fantasy VII Remake, the pulisher slipped in a suprise announcement that was met with equal enthusiasm by fans.
Final Fantasy VIII is getting remastered.
Fans were understandably disappointed last year when the game was omitted from a lengthy list of
Final Fantasy classics that were being ported to Xbox and Switch, but that's because no one expected
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered to be announced so quickly. What's more, it's set to release later this year.
As a remastered version of the game, players can experience the same classic story but with newly rendered visuals
"that bring the game's characters to life like never before."
In FINAL FANTASY VIII, the military nation of Galbadia has declared war on the Dukedom of Dollet, who must hire the mercenary force, SeeD. Squall Leonhart, a new member of SeeD, together with his friends and Rinoa Heartilly, a member of a resistance group, get pulled into the war, unaware of their fated task to save the world.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is coming back to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
