Sony has been thinking of all sorts of fun ways to pay homage to PlayStation's 30 years of gaming. The original PlayStation console was launched back in December 1994. In celebration of the gaming brand's 30th anniversary, Sony has unveiled a special line of PS One-inspired consoles and peripherals set to launch this year.

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection includes retro makeovers for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles as well as the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, and DualSense Wireless Controller.

Let's start with the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle. This includes the limited edition PS5 Digital Edition console, which features a retro design inspired by the classic PlayStation console. The original PlayStation gray color returns for the panels and main body. On the front, are the words "PlayStation 30th Anniversary" etched into the console itself and at the top is the PlayStation logo in the original full color version.

On the back of the console is an updated logo that has been uniquely updated for this anniversary. It features the classic PlayStation symbols with the "0" in "30" serving as the classic circle. This design is also printed inside of the panel as well.

Included with this bundle is the DualSense, which also gets a retro makeover. In the center is the original color version of the PlayStation logo. And the best part — the buttons are the original colors as well. The same logo design printed on the PlayStation console is repeated as a pattern on the DualSense grips.  The controller also comes with a charging cable with a connector that resembles the original PlayStation controller. While it still uses USB-C for charging, it has the memories of the original PlayStation experience. Here's everything included in the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle:

  • PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
    • Includes the limited edition PS5 Digital Edition console with 1TD SSD and matching limited edition accessories – DualSense wireless controller and a Console Cover for a Disc Drive (Disc Drive sold separately).
    • It also includes a Vertical Stand and special collector’s Items:

  • Original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing
  • Four PlayStation Shapes cable ties
  • PlayStation sticker
  • Limited Edition PlayStation Poster (1 of 30 possible designs)
  • PlayStation Paperclip

The PS5 Pro Console - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle is somewhat similar in design. It maintains the same original gray colors, but one of the major differences is each individual unit as a unit number. Only 12,300 of these bad boys are getting made (in recognition of the December 3rd anniversary date) , and you'll be able to tell which unit number you have. Also on the casing is an embossed 30th Anniversary PlayStation logo.

As for the console itself, it comes with all of the bells and whistles of the recently revealed PS5 Pro console, including 2TB SSD and Wi-Fi 7 network capability. What also sets this bundle apart is the inclusion of a Charging Station and two DualSense Edge wireless controllers. The DualSense Edge has also been specially designed with the 30th Anniversary shapes printed on the touchpad and adaptive trigger. Here's everything that come with the PS5 Pro Console - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle:

  • PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe
    • Includes the limited edition PS5 Pro console with 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 in territories supporting this standard, and matching limited edition accessories – DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, DualSense Charging Station, and a Console Cover for a Disc Drive (Disc Drive sold separately).
    • It also includes a Vertical Stand and special collector’s Items:

  • Original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing
  • Four PlayStation Shapes cable ties
  • PlayStation sticker
  • Limited Edition PlayStation Poster (1 of 30 possible designs)
  • PlayStation Paperclip

It's worth noting that both the DualSense and DualSense Edge Wireless Controller will be available separately from the bundles as well. Unfortunately, that really cool charging cord is not included.

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be released on November 21, although Sony has not yet announced pricing on any of the items. Pre-orders do begin soon though, so it won't be long before we find out how hard our wallets will be hit. Many expect that the PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe will likely cost more than $1,000.
