One of the highlights of PlayStation's special presentation that took place last week — in which the developers were given time to showcase some of their upcoming next-gen games — was Insomiac Games' Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was also one of the few games that did show off some of its gameplay, and the game looked simply phenomenal — especially that brand new gameplay mechanic that allows players to alter the environment using rift portals.
Other than gameplay footage, Insomniac Games decided to remain tight-lipped when it came to revealing more infomration about the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart than the information we were given via its announcement trailer — which definitely adds to mystery behind that female Lombax shown at the end of the trailer.
Is this female Lombax a brand-new character? Is it an alternate dimension's version of Ratchet? Insomniac won't say, but they recently shared some great news, as they have revealed that this mysterious female Lombax will be playable too.
Since the name of the game is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and we see Ratchet and Clank being sent to different dimensions, it is safe to assume that we will experience Clank's side of the story via this new female Lombax, which will give an interesting dynamic to the relationship between Clank and this new character. We'll have to wait and see, but this is still exciting news.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently in development for the PlayStation 5.
