Sony has recently shared their consolidate financial reports for their fiscal year of 2018, revealing that the PlayStation 4 has managed to sell 17.8 million units as of the 31st of March, 2019.

Back in January Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 had sold 91.6 million units worlwide, as of the 31st of December in 2018, since its original release in November of 2013; getting closer to the original PlayStation lifetime sales of 102.49 million sales worldwide.

With the 17.8 million consoles sold worldwide, the PlayStation 4 has currently sold, since its release, a staggering 96.8 million units. It is still pretty far from getting close to the outstanding 155 million consoles the PlayStation 2 sold — especially now that the PlayStation 4 is nearing the end of its life cycle — but being able to outsell the PlayStation 1 might still on the table.
