The next-generation PlayStation, dubbed as the PlayStation 5 is right around the corner, or next year to be more precise. With that in mind, then, it makes a lot of sense for some retailers to be taking pre-orders before an official release date announcement.
If you live in Sweden, then now is the perfect time to make a big move towards owning a PlayStation 5 via MediaMarkt. The company has opened the pre-order gates for the upcoming console, but guess what? The price-tag is a whopping $1050.
For sure, the Sony system won't cost that much, but since the company has yet to announce the price, it makes sense for MediaMarkt to up the cost until then. Chances are, gamers might have to wait until E3 2020 or at a Sony event before then.
Not much is known about the console, but Mark Cerny, lead architect at PlayStation, release the following statement earlier this year to give fans an idea of what to expect.
“The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture”, according to
Cerny.
“The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments.”
Microsoft made similar claims, which suggests the next Xbox might not be too far off from the PlayStation 5 in terms of power and overall capabilities.
