E3: Microsoft Says XBOX GAME PASS Will Add 5 New Games Each Month

Microsoft says Xbox Game Pass, it's recently launched Netflix-like subscription service, will add 5 new titles on the first of each new month.

Xbox Game Pass senior product manager Dennis Ceccarelli appeared on Xbox's daily E3 Livestream, where he revealed that the company's recently launched Xbox Game Pass is more similar to Netflix than originally thought. Just like the streaming TV and film platform, Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service which grants access to a digital catalog of over 100 titles for the monthly fee of $9.99 USD. It will be adding and subtracting titles on a monthly basis as well, just like Netflix.

Ceccarelli clarified that at least five new titles will be added on the 1st of each month and that while there's no set formula for when games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass, the first games included in the June 1st launch won't be leaving until November.  If the launch is serving as the metric for when games will be leaving, that means subscribers have 5-months to complete all of the base gameplay, DLC and extras before a title is removed.

However, some games could be staying around much longer.  "In reality, the vast majority of our games are going to be in there much, much longer than that so you've got plenty of time to play through the great experiences that are in Game Pass, engage with DLC, just really enjoy that content - it's not leaving tomorrow."
