The first
Ori and the Blind Forest game was a 2015 Metroidvania platformer strongly inspired by
The Iron Giant movie, and games like
Metroid (duh) and Michel Ancel's
Rayman. Many fans of the series have been hoping
Ori and the Will of the Wisps would arrive sometime this year, but yesterday, Microsoft announced during its E3 press conference that the sequel will launch in 2019 instead.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps will take advantage of the Xbox One X console higher graphical and processing ability, improving on the beautiful visuals that the
Ori series is known for. The new trailer for the platformer features gameplay footage of action in dark forests, caves, jungles with a variety of creatures to fight and a giant arachnid-looking beast that seems to be the main villain of
Ori 2.
Gamespot recently had a chance to check
