Forza Motorsport, the biennial release in Microsoft's Forza racing franchise, was announced today during the Xbox Games Showcase. The game is currently in early development, but Creative Director Chris Esaki gave fans a lot to be excited about.
In an interview accompanying the reveal trailer, Esaki promised technical innovation and power with Forza Motorsport, including the ability to run native 4K at 60 frames per second. It will also support ray tracing, improved lighting tech that should result in more realistic reflections and shadows.
"The new Forza Motorsport is re-imagining the franchise," Esaki said. "It's taking what has made Forza great over the last 15 years and paring that with great new game concepts."
In addition to the improved Forza tech, a big focus for Forza Motorsport, and even Forza Horizon, with this new generation will be on "connection."
"Allowing players to build bonds and create new friendships and build communities that can last a lifetime," Esaki said. "We have such incredible passion for cars here at the studio. We want to share that love of cars with you. Our long time fans will be extremely excited about this new experience, but also we believe that there's a bunch of new fans that are just waiting to discover the fun of the Forza community."
