E3 is coming fast, which means that it's time to speculate and try to guess what Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will present during the show. We've heard that The Big M could delay Crackdown 3 to deliver a truly big-budget title, we all know that the only big Microsoft exclusive of the season, Sea of Thieves is currently sinking, and it looks like The Redmond Giant is planning to double down on Gears of War.
I'm sorry, "triple" down would make more sense, as "Microsoft could announce up to three Gears games, including a traditional sequel, a real-time strategy title in the style of Halo Wars and a battle royale game," according to Polygon. Considering that Halo and Gears of War (Forza also deserves some recognition) were always the biggest Xbox system-sellers, it's not surprising that Microsoft produces new GOW games.
What's more inserting it the fact that Microsoft could announce 3 Gears of War games in the near future. A continuation of Gears of War 4 was always in the cards, but a battle royale game seems like an unneeded extravaganza. Both Fortnite: Battle Royale and Playerunknown's Battlegrounds are available on Xbox One, so I don't think that there's a big audience that can't wait to play a Gears of War version of the "last man standing" mode.
Halo Wars was a nice experience (RIP Ensemble Studios), especially on PC, so the only thing we can do is wait for Microsoft's E3 show that takes place on Sunday, June 11, starting at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.
