Casey Hudson, the project director of
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the
Mass Effect trilogy, returned to BioWare nearly two years ago after the unexpected departure of Aaryn Flynn on the grounds of the launch of
Mass Effect Andromeda, a game that debuted to lackluster sales and mixed critical reception. Hudson is currently overseeing the entire studio as BioWare' general manager.
Hudson teased the future for the
Mass Effect universe in a promotional video for 2018's N7 Day on Thursday. The Twitter video features the manager and other BioWare employees answering a simple question - what
Mass Effect really means to them. According to Hudson, "
it means coming into the studio every day, dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be."
The video ends with Hudson taking a sip out of a “I Should Go” coffee cup, a reference to one of Commander Shephard’s iconic lines of dialogue to end conversations with other characters. A year ago, Hudson explained that there are many more games that BioWare wants to make than they can actually get to, but maybe we will learn more about a possible
Mass Effect 5 after
Anthem's February launch.
