Last July, US premium channel Showtime revealed that it has officially ordered a 10-episode live-action Halo season that will bring the universally praised video game series to TV screens. Halo will be produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and Kyle Killen (Lone Star), who will also serve as writer and showrunner, as Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct a few episodes.

According to Showtime, Halo will dramatize “an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant,” weaving “deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future." CEO of Showtime David Nevins described the Halo series as “futuristic, space-based science-fiction” in the vein of Star Trek. “It’s not fantasy,” Nevins said.

It looks like players will have to wait to witness Halo even longer, as the series has beer reportedly pushed back. The TV adaptation that was set to start filming in January now might not begin principal photography until June, Production Weekly revealed today. The PW crew also confirmed older Omega Underground's report, and just like Netflix's upcoming The Witcher, Halo will be filmed in Budapest.
