Microsoft's Phil Spencer Teases The Next Chapter Of The GEARS OF WAR Saga

Gears of War is one of the biggest "Xbox" franchises and after a rather warm reception of The Coalition's conservative Gears of War 4, it's time to finally shift gears, according to Microsoft's Phil Spencer.

During a discussion with The Verge, Executive Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft Phil Spancer has confirmed the Gears of War 5 existence. The last instalment of the critically-acclaimed series, Gears of War 4 launched in 2016 and didn't drastically change the old formula, which was somehow disappointing, considering that it's essentially the same game since 2006.

The newest rumor says that The Coalition, the creators of Ultimate Edition and GoW 4 is not working on the next instalment, as the studio is busy with other projects. Spencer mentioned the project while discussing Microsoft's plans for the Xbox Game Pass, the Netflix-like service for "everything Xbox", from Sea of Thieves, to Halo 6 and - Gears 5. "Not just those games, but our future Halos, our future Gears of War, future Forzas, and other games. Our plan is to launch those to our Game Pass subscribers at the same time they go to retail,' said Spencer.

Two years since the last Gears should be enough to develop a working prototype of the new instalment, so maybe we will see how the Fenix family looks like on the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2018, starting this June.
