Shovel Knight is one of those games that have had the chance to become available in pretty much every console since it launched all the way back in 2013; something that has made the game even more accessible for players.

One of the first consoles in which Yacht Club Games' critically acclaimed 2D platformer was released, was the Nintendo 3DS, but it seems that the upcoming Shovel Knight: ShowdownShovel Knight: Treasure Trove's final game — will not be releasing for Nintendo's handheld.

On their official Twitter account, Yacht Club games revealed today that Shovel Knight: Showdown will not be making its way into the Nintendo 3DS, but the King of Cards expansion is still a go — providing players with "plenty of premium grade single-player content," as stated by the developer.

Truth be told, this is likely the right decision — especially when considering that Shovel Knight: Showdown is a multiplayer game and the Nintendo 3DS is already at the end of its lifespan. That said, the full single player campaign is still available for 3DS players to purchase, and it is more than enough to quench that Shovel Knight thirst.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is the full and complete edition of Shovel Knight, a sweeping classic action adventure game series with awesome gameplay, memorable characters, and an 8-bit retro aesthetic!

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is currently available, in digital form, for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
