Revealed just ahead of this year's E3,
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair had fans of the
Yooka-Laylee series surprised, especially when they realized the game was changing things up a little bit and moving away from the 3D platformer genre to embrace some classic 2D gameplay.
From the get-go, we found out that
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair would be featuring music written by David Wise and Grant Kirkhope, who have been composing for Rare for quite some time and now also joined Playtonic — which consists, in its majority, of former Rare employees.
One thing we didn't know, however, was that this new game's soundtrack wouldn't only be composed by Wise and Kirkhope, but will also be featuring some new talents.
Playtonic had previously shared another music track that featured a fantastic piece by composer Matt Griffin, called "Underwater Saunter" and very heavily inspired by the work of David Wise in the
Donkey Kong Country series.
Today, Playtonic has shared yet another fantastic music track for the upcoming
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair called "Clinking Carnival" and written by Dan Murdoch; another composer who will be joining David Wise, Grant Kirkhope, and Matt Griffin.
