Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is the sequel to the
Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor
Yooka-Laylee, which is actually developed by the same development team that worked on the
Banjo-Kazooie series and
Donkey Kong 64.
While the first
Yooka-Laylee title embraced the 3D platformer genre, Impossible Lair is going for a more traditional 2D platformer feel in a similar vein to Retro Studios' criticaly acclaimed
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze; a game most people consider to be one of, if not, the best platformers ever made.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will finally become available tomorrow for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam), but reviews have already started rolling in and they are overwhelmingy positive; calling the game a worthy successor to
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
In order to flaunt these very positive scores the game has been getting, Playtonic has shared a short but sweet accolades trailer that shows off even more gameplay and even gives us a look at some of the tonics(filters) that players will be able to use in
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
