STONEAGE WORLD Review: Diving Into Netmarble's New POKÉMON-Like Prehistoric Themed MMORPG

Fans of pet collecting-based strategy-infused role-playing games can now share their joy on a much larger scale. Netmarble, the mobile game developer known for titles such as The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Magic The Gathering: Manastrike, MARVEL Future Fight, and King of Fighters All-Star has recently released an MMO title that will appeal to gamers who enjoy Pokémonesque titles.

StoneAge World is a title that fits the prehistoric theme of this massively multiplayer online role-playing mobile game like a glove. Cavemen, cavewomen, and little cave children wander the lands of Tectonika, which, much life Pangea, used to be a single continent, something about tectonic plates as rumors would have it.

The purpose of the game is to collect and train different prehistoric creatures with names like Rocktoise, Goldkabit, Cowpig, and Moga. Well-balanced teams are critical to rule the land and overcome the battles that are headed your way throughout the story and wildlands of Tectonika.

A line-up of multiple creatures can be put together for battle, which is something trainers are unable to accomplish with the Pokémon titles these take inspiration from. Building teams will likely remind many players of classic JRPG's which utilize similar combat functions like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and many more.

All ages will find appeal in StoneAge World, as the mobile title offers the option to easily make your way through the story by tapping a single spot on the screen. Also, tutorials are given for every action rather than thrusting the new gamers into unknown territory - something that will help the younger audience pick up the basics.

For those who don't want to go through the motions of battle, an "Auto" option is presented as well as a button that allows double the speed in fights. The monsters in the game are not only adorable, but each different type can be different classes and colors which offer more advanced gamers a bevy of options to challenge themselves with when it comes to collecting and grinding.

Gamers who enjoy pet-collecting battle titles and MMORPGs will be thrilled with what they find after checking out StoneAge World. With numerous options available for customization and simplified controls and story presentation, both young and adult players will find something they love and quickly descend into the depths of Tectonika.

StoneAge World - 8.5/10

StoneAge World takes the concept of pet-collection and role-playing game (RPG) mechanics and seamlessly blends them together with a delightful and venturesome MMO experience set in a whimsically inspired take on prehistoric societies.

Set in the land of Tectonika, players will embrace the role of “Trainer,” a powerful warrior who collects, tames, and trains pets to protect the land from enemies. With over 250 pets including dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, pigs, wolves and more, players will have their hands full defending Tectonika against unknown enemies from the up-and-coming Machine Civilization and exploring the unique quirks of prehistoric society.

StoneAge World is now available to download on the App Store and Google Play.
