Gotta catch 'em all! Niantic has officially announced the full details of the upcoming
Pokemon Go Community Day event, which will be allowing an incredible opportunity for fans of Larvitar, and trainers in general.
The event is right around the corner, taking place this Saturday, June 16th, from 2-5 PM EST. That means for three hours Larvitar will be spawning left and right, popping up all over the place, and we mean
all over the place. Larvitar, a Pokemon that is normally extremely rare to find in the wild, will be pretty much every other Pokemon that shows up within that time frame. Any Tyranitar that are caught or evolved within that time period also have the ability to learn a special move that can't be taught by TM's, called Smack Down!
Because of the massive number of Larvitar that will be available, this time frame opportunity greatly increases chances for users to catch a shiny version of the Pokemon. This is major, because it also would allow the player to gain the shiny version of Pupitar, and Tyranitar respectively. As someone who caught not one, but two shiny Charmander during last month's Community Day event, I can say that you should have a pretty good shot at getting one of these shiny, gold looking guys that you see below.
Looking past the outstanding Larvitar aspect, the
Pokemon Go Community Day event also offers several other boosts. First, trainers will earn three times the amount of experience as normal for any Pokemon caught during the duration of the event, so make sure to pop those lucky eggs you've been sitting on to get the most of your money. Also, lure modules will last for three hours when popped instead of the normal thirty minutes, allowing players to get the absolute most out of the time allotted. Lastly, per usual, a special Community Day box will be available in the in-game shop for anyone who might find themselves interested.
What do you think? Is the ever-popular Larvitar one of your favorites? Will he be enough to push you to the outer world this weekend, exploring the tall grass and the worlds unknown, or will Niantic need to step up their game even further if they hope to regain your playership? Either way, be sure to let us know in the comments! Larvitar hits the streets on June 16th.
