Just like Mew and Mewtwo, Ditto is a Pokemon that players of Pokemon Go have spent months attempting to track down. However, Niatic has now confirmed that he was never previously in the game, but has been added via an unrelated patch. No further details were revealed, but social media is understandably blowing up, and it turns out that nabbing Ditto in the game really isn't all that simple.

As expected, Ditto is able to take on the appearance of other Pokemon, and that means the Weedle or Pidgey you come across while on an afternoon stroll is in fact the highly sought after fan-favourite!

What that means is you're going to have to basically catch every single Pokemon you come across until finding a Ditto, but don't be surprising if some more specific tips and tricks find their way online in the next few days as hardcore players of Pokemon Go rush out and attempt to get their hands on one. This is a cool move by Niatic anyway, and should help once again reignite interest in the mobile game!
